STUDENTS at Daventry College are celebrating after completing the Six Book Challenge.
The college on Badby Road West started the challenge back in 2008, which encourages reluctant readers to complete six books in six months.
At the Daventry campus this year 57 people out of the 77 who took part completed the challenge.
Head of the library Hannah Gibson said: “The aim is to encourage people who have struggled with getting into reading to read six books between Christmas and June.
“This is our fifth year and last week we held an awards ceremony to celebrate their achievements.
“It’s a national event and we are held in quite high esteem for the way we do it at the college in Daventry.
“We actually give advice to other institutions on how to make it successful.
“It’s all about promoting adult literacy and we have found over the five years that it has improved the standard.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to all tutors who have embraced the challenge as without them it would not have succeeded. And finally a big congratulations to all the students who have completed the challenge this year, we hope they carry on reading.”
