Seasonal spirit shone down on Daventry last Saturday evening with the switch-on of the town’s Christmas lights.
The Bowen Square celebration, hosted by BBC Northampton’s Martin Heath, showcased some of the best talent from across the region as Titan the Robot opened the show before making way for young performers from Laura Brown’s Active Dance.
Daventry Music Centre’s woodwind band got everyone in the festive mood with a faithful renditions of classic Christmas songs before Academy No 1 raised the temperature with a feisty exhibition of ballroom and Latin dance.
There was also street dance from The Scorpion Academy and local band Dead Frequency, who took to the stage with their set list of crowd-pleasing rock anthems.
Finally, hot from London’s West End, Performer’s Academy sang and danced before Sleeping Beauty and Prince Charming from the Royal and Derngate’s pantomime along with Alison Hammond, from Deco’s Jack and the Beanstalk, also took to the stage to spread some seasonal magic of their own.
The evening’s glittering stage show and fireworks finale added to the attractions on the night.
