SIGNED shirts from some of the biggest names in football will be among the prizes auctioned off when the Manchester United Legends visit Daventry.

Shirts signed by Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Manchester United stars Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney will be among the star lots for when the legends play Daventry Town on May 20.

Other signed shirts include Pele, Paul Scholes and Eric Cantona. There’s also a football signed by the current United team and non-football related lots such as helicopter rides.

Commercial manager of Daventry Town Football Club Terry O’Neill who has organised the event said: “The game has come on the back of the matches against Liverpool and Aston Villa and those were really big. But there is an extra buzz about bringing Manchester United to Daventry.”

There will be various activities on match day, which is sponsored by Hi-Force, including a tombola, fun activities, a raffle as well as food and drinks.

The Man Utd legends who will be at Communications Park include Dennis Irwin, Frank Stapleton and Clayton Blackmore.

Money raised will go to the Daventry Town Football Club Community Charity Fund which helps charities including REACH for Health, the Naomi Tate Memorial Trust and the Gary Barton Memorial Trust.

The organisers are still searching for sponsorship for some of the United shirts.

Tickets for the match, which kicks off at 2pm, cost £5 and can be bought from Barclays and Go Mobile in Daventry, Vital Saloons, Slim Jims, Coach and Horses and the football club. Alternatively contact Mr O’Neill on 07772 571944 or emailt.oneill@dtfc.co.uk.
