A NOTORIOUS stretch of road looks set to finally have its speed limit reduced from 60mph down to 40mph.
The A361 Daventry Road, just before Ashby St Ledgers, has been the spot of numerous crashes over the past few years.
The most recent fatal accident happened in June when 19-year-old Gemma Stanley died on the dangerous S-bend following a collision.
Campaigners have long called for the speed limit to be reduced on the road, and now Northamptonshire County Council (NCC) has issued an official notice to make the change.
Under the plans a 40mph speed limit will be introduced at a point 487 metres north of the junction with main street and a point 275 metres south of that junction.
The change is one of a number being proposed in the Daventry district. Anyone who objects to the changes must write to NCC before Thursday, August 23.
