A student from Daventry is up against five others to win a national award.

Sophie Davies, who is fromLondon Road, Daventryhas been nominated for the Most Deserving Student Award in a competition run by motors.co.uk.

The 21-year-old is currently at Nottingham Trent University studying International Relations with Communications and Society with Spanish.

She is delighted with the nomination.

Sophie said: “It is pretty amazing. One of my friends had nominated me and I didn’t even know about it until I had a phone call saying I was up for the award.

“I just hopenow people will vote for me because it would be fantastic to win.”

Among her achievements which has led to her nomination is getting involve d in the student magazine at the university, making sure it was published for the first time in two years and also raising funds for the charity Coppafeel!

Sophie added: “The magazone is something I got involved in to help people out. I didn’t set out to do lots of things, but when I was in it snowballed and have really enjoyed doing it.

“Kristin who set up Coppafeel! used to live round the corner from us.

“It is obviously a very worthy cause and we have been raising awareness of it around the university.”
