THE Braunston Show marked its 45th anniversary on Saturday in style.

The event, run by the Braunston Village Garden Association, (BVGA) saw many other organisations from the village get involved in the long-running event.

Chris Grossart, chairman of the BVGA said: “The show was a great success again this year.

“Despite the dreadful weather for gardeners and all the other events taking place through the year for the jubilee and the Olympics, we had the largest number of participants for over 12 years.”

Kate Mawer, show secretary, said: “I was particularly pleased that over 25 per cent of those taking part were new entrants either this year or last year.

“The hall was buzzing and a number of people commented how good the show is at bringing the whole village together.

We have great capacity to grow further so we hope everyone puts the date in their diary for next year.”
