A VOLUNTEER from Daventry has been awarded a charity’s highest accolade for her work in a town shop.
Claire Renshaw, who suffers from cerebral palsy which severely limits how far she can walk with ease, was presented with the British Heart Foundation’s Heart Hero award on Thursday last week.
Miss Renshaw, from the Headlands in Daventry, is a volunteer at the British Heart Foundation Shop in Daventry’s Bowen Square.
Last August she was presented with an award from Derby College, where she was doing an NVQ, for outstanding excellence for her work at the shop.
Store manager Penny Moore said: “The nomination for this award follows on from the Derby College award. She was up against volunteers from 700 British Heart Foundation stores across the country.
“Unfortunately Claire couldn’t get down to London for the big awards night, so we had a presentation in the shop.”
