Scouts from all over Daventry and District took part in the annual Daventry and District Scout raft race at Daventry Country Park.

Using pioneering poles, rope and their knowledge of knots, each team had to construct a raft that would be able to be used in race with the whole team paddling for glory.

While some teams were victorious, others got that sinking feeling as they found themselves more in the water than on a raft.

After three gruelling races, 2nd Braunston dominated when their (A) and (B) team reached the final. In a closely fought battle, 2nd Braunston (B) team, led by Leon Daly, became the overall winners.

The Explorer Scouts also had a race with Ajax Unit from Welford against 3rd Daventry. Ajax emerged the winners whilst 3rd Daventry got submerged and had to be rescued.

The raft race is just one of numerous adventures that Scouts in Daventry take part in every year. Scouts are open to all young people between 10 and 14 years old and offers fun and adventure as well as learning valuable life skills such as team work and communication.
