School celebrates making the grade

Badby Primary School were visited by education body Ofsted earlier this year and were judged to be good in every category after the last inspection in 2012.

In this year’s report published on Monday, the school was praised for the achievement of pupils, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of pupils as well as the leadership and management of the school.

Headteacher Lindsey Evans said: “The school governors and I were absolutely delighted with our recent Ofsted report.

“It absolutely reflects the commitment of our school community in ensuring that our children make the best possible progress.

“The staff and children work incredibly hard and I am so proud of them.

“I was particularly pleased with the recognition that our pupils have such positive attitudes to school life and that they really enjoy their time in school.

“It is reassuring that our school continues to build on what is most important – a love of learning!”

The report states: “Pupils are given opportunities to discuss their work together in lessons and pupils do this enthusiastically, which helps their progress.

“Pupils have positive attitudes to learning in all classes. They are routinely polite, courteous and helpful to each other.

“Leaders, managers and governors, with the clear leadership of the headteacher, have accelerated pupils’ progress and raised the quality of teaching.”

The report also stated that to achieve an ‘outstanding’ grade the school needs to provide more opportunities for pupils to learn from one another, and more regular checks need to be made on pupils’ progress in lessons.
