CHRISTMAS came rather late to a Daventry pub on Sunday.
The Pike and Eel, on the town’s Grange estate, decided to hold a festive party in May, complete with tree, decorations, crackers and Santa, because the pub had been shut over the Christmas period.
Manager Beverley Martin said: “The community didn’t get a party at their pub over Christmas because it was closed, so we decided to do something now.
“We are a really community pub and once we had got the place back open and we had settled in we thought it would be nice, and unique, to put something like this on for the people.”
And the out-of-synch celebrations at the Pike and Eel don’t stop at Christmas.
Ms Martin said: “This weekend coming we’re celebrating New Year – New Year always comes a week after Christmas – so at least we’ll have caught up with the start of 2011!”
