Roads suffering due to traffic
I READ with great interest the two letters on the corn lorries going to and from Charles Jackson in Long Buckby.
I used to live in Long Buckby and have friends in Buckby Wharf. I use this road daily and have seen a great deterioration in this route mainly between the A5 and the grain store.
I have seen lorries and tractors mounting the pavement through the wharf, churning up the verges, grain spilt all over the road and, on some occassions, rats eating the grain on the Buckby road. In the summer straw covers the roads and blocks drains and when you are following lorries, the straw covers your windscreen adding more danger.
I have been to the paper shop in Buckby and we couldn't hear ourselves speak for the rumbling of lorries.I don't know about Three Bridge Road, they ought to call it The Rumbles.
Since the plans have been in the press the lorries have lessened greatly – is this a plan by the company until it gets permission and then the lorries come back?
I agree with the two writers who said this should be on an industrial estate. Come on Buckby people write to your council and stop this.
