Resignation call over bins

A member of the public has asked if the councillor in charge of the Enterprise contract at Daventry District Council (DDC) would resign.

Ken Ritchie posed the question at last Thursday’s meeting of the council.

The councillor in charge, Daniel Cribbin, admitted there had been some problems with the bins and grounds maintenance contract but that improvements were being made.

Answering the question DDC leader, Cllr Chris Millar, said: “No, Cllr Cribbin has not offered his resignation, nor would I expect him to do so. If I thought he wasn’t doing a good job I would certainly ask him to, rest assured.”

The question came shortly before a report into failings by Enterprise was passed by the council, calling for tighter oversight of the contract.
