People across the Daventry district are being urged to donate food to a Christmas hamper scheme.

Daventry District Council is working with Daventry and District Over Fifties Forum and the Daventry Food Bank on the Christmas Helping Hampers Project.

The hampers provide essential items and ingredients needed to help make Christmas special for the recipient.

A list of items to go in the hampers can be found online and donations can be made at reception in the council offices, Lodge Road, Daventry until Monday, December 15. They will then be delivered by Daventry Food Bank. Angela Gee, of Daventry Food Bank, said: “When we deliver the hampers to the various recipients, we are always humbled by their response and are able to see just how grateful they are for this gift of food. We sometimes forget that the things that we often take for granted are luxuries to some people.

“We cannot thank all those who donate to the Christmas Helping Hampers campaign each year enough for the gift that they give to our community.”
