People living in Daventry District could lose out on more than just the right to vote if they fail to complete and return their electoral registration forms.
Daventry District Council has sent forms to every household in the district as part of its annual individual electoral registration canvass.
The council’s canvassing staff are now visiting properties where people have yet to respond.
Failure to respond could mean a person won’t appear on the Electoral Register, which means they will also not be able to cast their vote in the local district and parish as well as police and crime commissioner elections taking place in May 2016.
The register is also often used by credit agencies, and not being registered could result in potential problems when applying for a mortgage or loan, or even a mobile phone.
If residents don’t need to make any changes to the information on the form sent to them, they can confirm their existing registration by using one of the following options:
- Visit www.registerbyinternet.com/daventry
- Call 0800 197 9871
- Text 80212 quoting ‘NOCHANGE’
Those who do have to make changes or add anyone onto the register can do so by one of the following options:
Complete the inside of the form provided and send back in the business reply envelope.
