A quiet stillness held sway over Daventry and its surrounding villages on the morning of Sunday, November 9 as communities came together to mark Remembrance Day.

At 10.30am veterans and relatives of soldiers, as well as civic dignitaries, marched through Tavern Lane and the High Street and down to the memorial on Abbey Street, led by the town Mayor.

A short outdoor service then followed with a two-minute silence and the reading of the Roll of Honour.

Across Daventry District residents met at churches and war memorials for services to mark the occasion.

In Braunston, there was a parade and a door to door poppy collection. Services and the laying of wreaths at war memorials also took place in Badby, Byfield, Newnham, among others.

Shops in Daventry such as the Orange Blossom florists have also been hosting memorial displays and holding collections for the Royal British Legion.
