CHILDREN at Newnham Primary School have been taking part in an old Christmas tradition this week.
Like village elves, the children have been delivering Christmas post to local residents to raise funds for their school situated on School Hill.
Teachers and friends of the school have also been helping out to deliver the cards to villagers with people paying just 15p for the safe delivery of their Christmas post.
Headteacher Kim Cresswell said: “The tradition has been going for a significant number of years – much longer than I have been here.
“We very much value the community that we are part of and we like to ensure traditions are upheld.
“We have a lot of support from local residents and the children are very much a part of the community. We certainly all work in conjunction and are very much partners.”
Money made by the children and staff is to go back into the school to go towards anything they may need in future.
