A husband and wife team will be opening the doors to their house and running a pop-up restaurant this month.
Anita and Andy Lowe, in Braunston, will be cooking for paying customers in their own home to bring something different to the village and attract more visitors.
The pop-up restaurant will see guests seated around one table so they can meet new people and enjoy a friendly evening together.
Anita said: “I will be doing the cooking, and Andy will be front of house. I have a passion for cookery and we did a pop-up tapas restaurant last year which was very popular.
“This will be on a smaller scale – we can sit six people inside. Later in the summer, if the weather’s good, we can sit eight or 10 in the garden.
“The idea is everyone sits together, chats, some of the food will be for sharing, like a big pavlova.
“We got the idea because we were on holiday in Argentina and we went to a pop-up restaurant. It was a great night talking to people.
“It’s nice to ‘discover’ somewhere new, enjoy good food and good company.
“We decided to do it in Braunston as we’re trying to encourage more visitors and tourists to the village.”
The Lowes have set two dates so far for the pop-up restaurant – Saturday, June 7, and Saturday, July 12. There will be a set four-course menu for £22.50.
Anita said: “There’ll also be a complimentary drink and nibbles before, and tea and coffee and homemade chocolates afterwards. It’s modern British food, but with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences too. We’re obviously not going to make much money out of it, but we are both very sociable and really want to do something different for the community.”
