Police reveal names of Northamptonshire house fire suspects and charge them with murder

Two people have been charged with murder following the death of a man whose body was found after a fire at a Northamptonshire house.

Karl Patrick John Pound, 50 and Mary Cash, 38, both from Northampton, have also been charged with arson recklessly endangering life.

Police were called to a house in Rothersthorpe Road, Northampton, at around midday on Thursday, 8 October, after reports of a fire at the property.

The body of a man was found inside the house and a forensic post mortem examination was conducted at Leicester Royal Infirmary on Friday. It found that the man had died before the fire started.

Formal identification of the victim has yet to take place.

Karl Pound and Mary Cash will appear before Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 12 October.

They were arrested on Friday night. Both are believed to be known to the man who has died.
