THERE was a distinctive swashbuckling theme to a concert at Falconer’s Hill Junior School.

The youngsters worked with six musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and sinfona ViVA to put on the show on Friday with the theme of pirates. The youngsters dressed up in a wide variety of pirate-related costumes for the concert, staged especially for parents.

Music co-ordinator at the school Ros Peet said: “The children had the idea that classical musicians play a certain type of music and they thought they might be quite stuffy. They were surprised at how friendly they were and found out that classical music helped to make the Pirates of the Caribbean theme tune.

“The children thought the day was awesome.”
