A CENTRE in Daventry used by hundreds of young people has received a facelift.
Staff from Barclays joined with the Brushes and Spades Project, run by the Daventry Volunteer Centre, to do painting work at the Phoenix Centre off Ashby Road.
The work took three days and saw the vestibule and ladies’ toilets repainted.
Because of recent cuts to its funding, the Phoenix Centre could not afford the materials needed to complete the work, and these were paid for by Barclays.
A spokesman for Brushes and Spades said: “Without volunteer assistance and financial help, the redecoration would not have been completed.
“Hundreds of children from the Daventry district receive tuition at the gym, which has long been recognised as one of the town’s most valuable facilities.”
