A man from Daventry is cycling 300 miles in just 24 hours this week in memory of his father.

Dean Conopo, who was born in Kilsby and attended William Parker school, was joined by friend Dale Lewis when they set off on the cycle on Wednesday last weel raising money for Cancer Research UK.

The pair are cycling from Land’s End in Cornwall to Duston United Tennis Club in Northampton. They will attempt to make the journey within a 24 to 30 hour period.

The pair have had t-shirts made especially for the challenge with the name of those they have lost to cancer printed on the back.

Mr Conopo’s mum Peggie, from Daventry, said: “I am very proud of Dean, he won’t be stopping at all so we [his family] plan to meet him where we can along the way to support him and cheer him on.
