COMMUTERS may come face to face with police officers as they travel on their regular bus route.
Stagecoach Northampton has welcomed officers and PCSOs to travel for free on their buses across the county.
It forms part of an initiative to reassure passengers as well as reduce the police force’s reliance on its own fleet of vehicles.
Inspector Dave Rayfield, of Northampton Police, said: “This is a great opportunity for officers to increase their travel options across the county and at the same time will make them more accessible to the public.
“The police are more than willing to co-operate in ensuring our buses are safe to travel on,” he added.
“The support of the bus company for the force and local community safety by allowing police officers and PCSOs to travel free of charge is greatly appreciated,” said John Chatley of Northamptonshire Police.
