PEOPLE are to be consulted on whether they think new rules for dog owners should be introduced in the district.
New powers to control dogs have been introduced nationally, and now Daventry District Council (DDC) must decide whether it wants to use any of these powers locally.
If adopted the new rules could require dog owners to keep dogs on a lead in car parks or sports pitches, keep dogs out of children’s play areas and keep dogs on a lead when directed by a council officer.
The six-week consultation period will run from January 17 until February 28 when people can register their comments.
The proposed changes will be available to view at www.daventrydc.gov.uk/consultation and copies can also be requested over the phone on 01327 871100.
Representations can be made to the council in writing or by emailing email@example.com.
