DAVENTRY District Council have announced further details on the new food waste bin scheme due to start in January.

More than 120,000 households in the district will receive a small indoor caddy as well as a larger outdoor bin that will be emptied weekly.

The waste will be recycled into electricity and fertiliser at a new plant.

Cllr Chris Millar, Leader of Daventry District Council said: “We are always striving to improve the recycling service and this is a natural progression as we look at ways to divert waste from the landfill.”

Bin deliveries will begin on January 16 and the first collections will take place on January 23.
