A national retail name will disappear from Daventry later this year.

Thorntons in Bowen Square announced it will close on Saturday September 3. The card part of the shop will also close on the same day.

On Facebook the store said: “We would like to say a big thank you to all of our lovely loyal customers. We are going to miss you.

“We hope to see you in the forthcoming weeks and we wish you well.”

Speculation has already started about what shop may move into the unit once it becomes empty.

Suggestions on social media are that health shop chain Holland and Barrett have shown an interest.
