More help for domestic violence victims

POLICE in the town have launched a new initiative to help the victims of domestic violence.

The Daventry District and South Northants Domestic Abuse Forum has been set up to try and tackle problems which will see the force teaming up with Women’s Aid and other organisations.

Officers will be making more repeat checks after instances of domestic violence while courses will be offered to victims and any children involved in the incident.

Inspector Paul Valentine, temporary sector commander for Daventry Safer Community Team said: “We want to try and prevent situations from getting worse and this will go a long way to helping in that aim.”
