A SERVICE of thanksgiving has been announced for a much-loved 68-year-old farmer who died following an accident.
Richard Watts from Byfield died after he was thrown from his motocross bike while supervising ploughing of the fields at Charwelton Lane in Hellidon on Saturday, April 27.
He was taken to the University Hospital in Coventry by air ambulance but died later the same day as a result of his injuries.
Mr Watts was a much- loved member of the community having lived in the village for more than 35 years and left behind his wife Veronica, two sons Mark and Ian and four grandchildren aged between six and 10.
The service of thanksgiving will be held at the Holy Cross Church in Byfield from noon on Tuesday.
