A MAGICIAN pulled it out of the hat to win a place in the semi-finals of a top competition.
Sean Heydon, who lives in Monks Way in Crick, wowed the crowd and judges in the first heat of X Factor-style competition, The Next Big Thing.
The first heat of the competition, which is organised by the Confex Group and supported by entertainment agency Sternberg Clarke, IML and Event magazine, took place at Church House in Westminster.
Six acts battled it out in front of a boisterous crowd to try and win the top prize of a 1,000 and a year-long contract with Sternberg Clarke.
The judges voted for Mr Heydon, who last year appeared on the Paul O'Grady show, as the act to go through to the next round.
He said: "It was quite nerve-wracking but I was so pleased to get through.
"I'm looking forward to the next round at the NEC. It's been good for raising my profile."
The next heat of The Next Big Thing will take place at the Eventia Summer Party, held on Wednesday, August 18 at the Science Museum with the semi final taking place at Birmingham's NEC in September.
