A SPECIAL guest was on hand in Long Bucky to promote the magic of reading.
Magician Crazy Colin entertained children at the village’s library to launch a summer reading challenge.
He wowed the youngsters with a series of tricks linked to reading.
Ann Bond, from Long Buckby Library, said: “The theme of our summer reading challenge this year is Story Lab.
“The magic Colin did tied in with reading. For example he did a card trick and turned the card into a library card before explaining to children how that card can take them anywhere in the world through the power of reading.
“We had around 30 children and they all really enjoyed it. We were happy with the turn out as it was a boiling hot day and we weren’t sure how many people would want to stay indoors.”
The library now has more events lined to continue to get children reading.
Mrs Bond added: “We have something on every week during the summer holidays.
“On Tuesday, July 31 at 10.30am children’s author Linda Chapman will be coming to talk about her books which will be very exciting. And next Friday (August 3) at 2pm there will be a Mini Beasts Crafts event for children.”
