INFANTS in Kilsby now have more time for treasure hunts and nature walks since the village pre-school extended its opening hours - at the request of parents.
In a recent questionnaire a need for longer child care hours was identified by parents.
In response to this the school decided to open from 9am until 5pm five days a week meaning they are now open an extra five hours on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Deputy supervisor Julie Farmer said: “We wanted to give parents more flexibility to be able to do things during the day and they identified a need for longer opening hours when we asked them about the pre-school a little while ago.
“Now we have time to run a lunch club with the children and to have picnics as well as taking them outside on walks and around gardens.
“Parents also have time to do things in the afternoon or work a few extra hours without worrying about child care.”
The new hours came into effect on Monday (January 7) and have so far been successful.
Mrs Farmer said: “The children have settled in really well and quickly adjusted to staying a few extra hours.
“It has given us the opportunity to spend more time with the children and so far is working very well.”
The pre-school looks after children aged two to four years-old.
