Workshop rings a bell

Ringers are invited to meet in the porch of Holy Cross Church in Market Square ready for a 10.30am start.

Bellringer Geoff Pullin, of Badby, said: “Climb the short spiral stair to the ringing room above the porch to learn about bells and bellringing.

“Then walk up further to see along the void between the roof and the nave ceiling before taking the last short staircase to the bell chamber.

“Here you can see the fine 10 bells above you while a quietened bell is raised and rung for you to see how the mechanism works.

“After seeing the clock 
and the ancient chiming barrel, come back down to the ringing room where a short demonstration of ringing bells up and ‘plain hunting’ will be given.

“Have a go at ringing our bell simulator or on one of the real bells.”

The session ends at noon.
