CARS and passers-by showed their support of a recent 5K wheelchair push by stopping in the street to donate money.
Members of Daventry’s Reach for Health Rehabilitation Trust embarked on the push from their gym in High March to raise awareness and funds for their cause.
Over 20 people completed the challenge pushing seven others in wheelchairs along with them.
The group went around the town centre raising over £300 from the street collection.
Director of the Trust Cllr Lynne Taylor said: “The day put the fun into fundraising, it really didn’t feel like an effort at all, it was just good fun.
“People in the town centre were very generous and it was lovely to see.”
Mrs Taylor said although the push was tiring, people of all ages were happy to take part.
Volunteers rewarded all participants with a large buffet on their return to the gym.
The push took place on September 15 and aimed to raise awareness of the Trust which uses exercise to aid people’s recovery from injury and for general health care in the Daventry area.
The final total raised from the push is not yet known as sponsorship is still coming in.
