Weather didn’t deter crowds

The residents of Hellidon did not let a downpour dampen spirits at their village fete.

The rain, however, did eventually bring a halt to some of the traditional festivities on offer. Popular attractions included a bottle tombola, coconut shy, skittles, dog show, afternoon teas, home-made cakes, a mini-beer festival and a children’s fancy dress competition.

The weather did not however prevent local pilot Rob Berger from giving a display over the site in the afternoon.

Jenifer Fell, village correspondent for the Daventry Express, said: “The fete is a major fundraiser for the parish church. Despite the torrential rain the day was deemed a success by all who attended.”
