Volunteers wanted for British Legion

Daventry’s British Legion is looking for new members to help keep the group going.

The Daventry branch has recently lost its chairman, secretary, treasurer, and the organiser of the annual Poppy Appeal.

Ted Sharp, from the branch, said: “It’s left us in a poor state, and all this at a time when we are being called on to be involved with many of the World War One events around the local area.

“Unfortunately many of our members are not so young anymore and are not able to take on these roles.

“So we would like to appeal for anybody who wants to help to get in touch with us on 01327 876372.”

The Daventry Branch of the Royal British Legion organises the annual Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday services and parades in the town centre, and also organises the local Poppy Appeal every year.
