Residents in Braunston and Weedon Bec will now have more say on the future of their villages.
Neighbourhood area applications for the villages gained approval last Thursday at a meeting of Daventry District Council’s strategy group.
The idea of the plan is for the respective parish council to develop something that recognises the distinct features of each parish and ensures future developments benefit the community. Councillor Alan Chantler said: “It will provide a genuine opportunity for a community to influence the development within their area, they could influence where houses are built for example.”
Councillor for Braunston and Welton, Abigail Campbell, said people in her village had shown an interest in the neighbourhood area plan and it seemed to be going well so far. Leading the neighbourhood plan project for Braunston Alan Mawer said it would help to ‘localise the decision-making process’.
