UPDATE: Motorway reopen after diesel spillage near Watford Gap
THE M1 is now fully reopened after a diesel spill this morning shut a southbound lane for most of the day.
The spill happened after a lorry overturned between junction 16 and 17 just after Watford Gap Services at around 3.10am.
The incident, which also damaged a large part of the crash barrier, caused huge delays for motorists during rush hour.
No-one was seriously injured in the accident.
