IT was one giant step for fundraising last week when Tesco employees broke the world record for the most people standing on one foot.

Staff at Daventry’s Clothing Distribution Centre teamed up with other Tesco stores across the UK on Thursday in a bid to break into the Guinness World record books with the title ‘most people standing on one leg simultaneously across multiple venues’.

Volunteers limbered up to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer, a fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4.

Tesco stock integrity manager – Daventry clothing, Gillian McIntyre said: “We are very excited about supporting Stand Up To Cancer through the world record-breaking attempt. Standing on one leg for two minutes is no mean feat but we are determined to try to raise as much money as possible to help people diagnosed with this terrible disease.”

Cancer Research UK’s spokesperson for the West Midlands, Jane Redman, said: “We are so grateful to all the staff and customers at Tesco in Daventry who are supporting the new world record bid and helping to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer at the same time.”
