A roadshow to help local sports clubs develop will be held in Daventry next month.
On Thursday February 13 South Northamptonshire Council and Everyone Active, in partnership with Northamptonshire Sport, will run the annual Club Development Roadshow for club members, coaches and volunteers, with workshops and information to enhance sports club.
The evening is free to attend and clubs can choose to attend a range of workshops that include Funding Advice, Disability ‘Sport is for All’, Multiskills and Engaging Volunteers.
Lesley Sharpe, president and secretary of Daventry Dolphins Club has attended the roadshows in the past and said: “We’ve gained valuable knowledge in the running of the Club and It is always good to get ideas from people from other sporting clubs/schools to see how they do things.
“Plus, even if you are an amateur club you have to adhere to professional standards so it is a great opportunity to speak to the professional administrators and guest speakers to get the most up to date information. I would very much recommend clubs attend”.
The evening starts at 6pm at Daventry Leisure Centre. Workshops will follow an opening from the Sports Development Officers.
There will be an opportunity to chat to experts from the Sports Development field about further support that is on offer to enable a club to grow.
Will Heckford , community sports engagement manager at Everyone Active said: “We have been running the club roadshows for over 10 years and every year we listen to our clubs and try to support in the areas where club need it most . This year we’re focusing on Funding, Volunteering, Coaching disabled people and Multiskills which is a new topic aimed at altering our approach to coaching children.”
