Sponne School in Towcester continues its A-level success

Students and staff at Sponne School in Towcester are celebrating an excellent set of A-level results this year with many individuals achieving outstanding grades.

Results in 2015 saw an increasing number of higher grades and this has been maintained this year with around three-quarters of students receiving these.

This year 55 per cent of all exam results were A* to B grades and 26 per cent at A* and A, a rise of 15 per cent and six per cent on last year.

Many students achieved multiple top grades and the majority have gained their first choice University places.

Among the many delighted students today were two who achieved A*s in all of their subjects; Callum Beck (the school’s top performer) achieved four A*s and VJ Pratley with three. Both also gained an additional grade A in a further AS subject.

VJ also achieved the stunning result of gettingfull marks in his A-level physics.

Callum and VJ have secured their places to study chemistry and physics respectively at Oxford university.

In addition, Caroline Watkins gained four A-levels of which one was A* and three at an A grade.

Ben Johnson, William Lewis, Lauren Johnson and Sophie Langford achieved one A* and two A grades, while Edward Wise, Annabel Basford, Freya Berry, Charlie Clark, Henry Walker, Chloe Hughes and Harry Warner gained multiple A* and A grades.

Many other students gained at least one A* or A in their set of results.

Executive headteacher Dr Jamie Clarke said: “We are really proud of our students who have done so well in gaining these excellent results.

“It is reassuring that the grades reflect the hard work that students put in and the outstanding teaching and support provided by the staff at Sponne School.

“Well done to all our students, including those who have secured their good university places.”

Victoria Austin, head of sixth form from Sponne, said: “I am always amazed by the high standards our students achieve and want to congratulate them on their excellent results.

“I am so pleased for them and wish them all the best in the future.”
