Show penned by villager wins TV comedy award
A SITCOM created by a former Weedon Bec Primary School pupil has won a prestigious international award.
Tom MacRae’s Threesome, which has been running for two series on Comedy Central, has won a Montreux Comedy Award for Best Sitcom coming in ahead of comedies produced all over the world.
The show centres around the story of a couple and their gay best friend who all end up in bed together one night. A resulting pregnancy leads to them deciding to raise the child as a trio.
The writer, who has also written for sci-fi smash hit Doctor Who, was delighted his show had won at the awards.
Mr MacRae, who now lives in London, said: “I feel like the proudest parent ever!
“Our little baby went off to Switzerland and showed Montreux exactly what British comedy can do – crawl along the floor bumping into things until they give you a prize for it.
“I’m so grateful to our wonderful cast and crew, and to Comedy Central who support our Threesome family so lovingly.”
