DAVENTRY Town Council has set up a working group to examine the impact of a Shopwatch scheme.
The decision was taken at a council meeting held on Monday and looked at whether the Shopwatch scheme could be expanded.
It follows on from Operation Lapland, a retail crime initiative launched by police.
Sgt Sam Dobbs said: “We had some excellent results. There was one national brand store which usually suffers between £200-£500 worth of stock loss weekly in December. During Operation Lapland, nothing was taken.”
The town council’s clerk Deborah Jewell will work alongside councillors Lynne Taylor, Wendy Randall and Lynn Jones to look at expanding the scheme, consider owning and admininstering the scheme.
