GLORIA de Piero, Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities, will be the guest of honour at a fundraising dinner organised by Daventry Constituency Labour Party next week
Ms Piero, MP for Ashfield and former political editor for GMTV, has been described by The Guardian as Labour’s ‘secret weapon’.
Cllr Abigail Campbell, women’s officer for Daventry Constituency Labour Party said “I’m really looking forward to hearing what Gloria De Piero has to say. There aren’t enough women in local or national government.
“Men still earn more than women on average, and women up and down the country have borne the brunt of the cuts”.
John Andrews, chairman of the Daventry Constituency Labour Party, said “We’re delighted Gloria de Piero is coming to Daventry. She is clearly in touch with people in a way many politicians simply aren’t.
“Labour in Daventry is just as serious about listening to what people want and need. She’s the perfect speaker for our fundraising dinner.”
The fundraising event takes place on Friday, March 28 at Daventry Football Club from 6.30pm. Tickets cost between £10 and £15.
