FOLLOWING a series of thefts this year, police are in the process of rolling-out a crime prevention programme to schools across Northamptonshire.
Officers are visiting primary and secondary schools to provide crime prevention advice, as well as introduce the forensic marking solution SelectaDNA.
SelectaDNA is a liquid solution that is placed onto items to forensically mark them. The microdots can instantly help police to identify stolen property and its rightful owner, with the use of a simple microscope.
Officers also highlighting the Schools’ Safety Challenge, run by Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service. The challenge is school-based and aimed at primary school children, with a focus on personal and home safety.
