School girl to compete in national final

10-year-old gymnast from Lang Farm is set to represent the East Midlands in a national competition.
Oriana Ahmadi who attends Ashby Fields Primary School and is a member of the Phoenix Gymnastics Club competed against gymnasts from all over the county on Sunday ranking second overall.
Orianna had to perform a set routine on five pieces of apparatus and gain a score of more than 45.00. She achieved a final score of 56.800 which her tutor described as outstanding.
Orianna will now compete in the gymnastics national final in Birmingham on Sunday, April 20 in a team of four and against others from all over the UK.
Head coach at the Phoenix Gymnastics Club, Natalie Bannigan, said: “ Coach James Boyes and I are extremely happy with Oriana’s performance. She has worked hard preparing for this competition and truly deserves the recognition.
“Qualifying for national finals is a big achievement for Oriana and we are looking forward to the competition in April.”
