Sailing couple in major sports event
A Daventry sailing couple are preparing to join 1,700 other boats in one of Britain's largest participation sporting events of the year.
Clare Miller, who owns Hays Hair Company in High Street, her husband Steve and two friends will set sail around the Isle of Wight as part of the JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race on July 2.
They will be competing in the 50-mile race in their 47 ft Wauquiez sailing boat, Laura Louise. The couple have sailed more than 12,000 miles together. Clare said: “From where I live, It is hard to believe that the sea and sailing is in my blood. As a qualified divemaster and a sailing lover, Daventry is about as far away from the coast as you can get.”
The race is in its 85th year and organised by the Island Sailing Club in Cowes.
