Road marking to take place next month

NEW markings to slow traffic on a notorious stretch of road in Daventry are set to be painted at the end of March.

Parking bays will be painted along Thames Road, Tyne Road and Badby Road West in order to narrow the main part of the road and hopefully slow traffic down on the road, which has seen several severe crashes.

The work is being left unitl March as the current weather conditions, damp roads, cold temperatures and remnants of salt on the road mean the paint may not hold.

Cllr Chris Long, who called the highways team to look at the road, said: “With the confirmation from the safety team that the measures have been agreed and approved it is excellent news that we now have a date for the work to be carried out. I believe that the installation of the measures will lead to better safety and hopefully prevent any further accidents”.
