Residents left angry over lorry trouble

A Daventry woman has called for action to be taken to stop lorries carrying out three point turns outside her house.

Lynn Henderson, who lives in Manor Road, has said the problem has been on-going for the past 30 years but it has got worse in the past five years.

She said: “I am amazed that my house has not been hit by a lorry doing a turn in the road. I know we are near an industrial estate but they turn six times a day and throughout the night.

“We have been told to take pictures of the lorries when they are doing it and keep a record and tell the police. We have been doing this but nothing has happened, the lorries keep coming and turning.

“Many of us living in the area are fed up with the lorries.

“I was thinking of selling up but as someone came along to look at the house, there was a lorry in the road turning. I got asked ‘does this happen regularly’ and I said yes. Any buyers, like they were, are going to be put off.

Northamptonshire County Council has been made aware of the issue and is currently looking at a solution.

A spokesman for the authority said: “We have been made aware of the situation in Manor Road, Daventry and the issue will be discussed at the next meeting of the Daventry Joint Action Group’ which meets on August 5.

“The group comprises the county council, Daventry District Council and the police.”
