Residents anger at plan for allotments

PEOPLE in Welton have been left shocked after Daventry District Council took a step closer to selling off land currently used for allotments in the village.

A meeting of Daventry District Council’s (DDC) planning committee held on Wednesday August 30 saw the authority get planning permission to build a bungalow on land at Churchill Road in the village.

While they have never been officially recognised as allotments, the land has been used by people in Welton for the last 50 years.

The decision means there is no land available for allotments in the village.
