More than 70 people attended a ceremony to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Great Britain’s entry into the First World War.

Civic dignitaries, councillors, representatives of local organisations including the Royal British Legion and members of the public attended the event at Daventry District Council’s offices in Lodge Road, Daventry on Monday, August 4.

A two-minute silence was observed and famous war poems including In Flanders Fields by John McCrae and For the Fallen by Robert Laurence Binyon were recited.
