Britain’s servicemen and women were honoured during a special flag-raising ceremony in Daventry.

Daventry District Council held a flag raising ceremony on Monday, June 23, when members of the Royal British Legion and Councillors attended the Council’s civic offices in Lodge Road.

The council’s leader Cllr Chris Millar said: “We are honoured to be able to show our support to Armed Forces Day once again, which takes on extra poignancy in this centenary year of the First World War.

This special event provides an opportunity for us to reflect on the outstanding contribution of men and women in the armed forces who serve their country at home and abroad.”

It was to mark armed forces day being held on Saturday.
